dave matthews carried me through times square yesterday morning.
you know, when i ran the newyorkcity half marathon.
well, with the help of emsie the running partner of course.
13.1 miles.
in the august summershine heat.
and we did it.
and dave matthews sang me through the pain.
on mile eight.
down broadway, times square.
all early morning and empty times square.
except for the people cheering.
and the bands playing. and the adrenaline swooshing. and whatnots.
and dave. singing,
funny the way it is
if you think about it
somebody’s going hungry
and someone else is eating out
funny the way it is, not right or wrong
somebody’s heart is broken
and it becomes your favorite song.
now that’s some musical lyrics to make you think faster. and
then your mind starts twisting above and beyond your pain.
and you start thinking about times square.
and all those people. and you run harder.
and then, five miles later.
you cross one finish line.
just one finish line in the climax of many.
but nevertheless, one finish line!
and then, after the finish line…
…well that’s another story.
of delusional content…
